Well i have to say i really not sorry to see the back of 2008- it has been really hard but i so looking forward to the future filled with love peace and good company!
I wish the same to everyone - to all my friends new and old, and the special friend who i have to let go of at midnight to move on in my life!!

night shift!

It really is another world isnt it- throughout the night patients keep coming and going and we go out to them and when you stop and think- this normally is happening and we are blssfully unaware!
I love nightshifts - i have done many throughout my career and it is a calmer pace in our centre but often more responsible as the back up is not available compared to dayshift! But there is a sense of achievement - you get more time to chat and get to know the people you see- there is a more acute sense of comardarie amongst colleagues. Unfortunately the down side especially at this time of year is the people who do come to see you are generally more ill and needing more urgent treatment- but its what we here for and having worked in A&E for many years I wonder what people really did before urgent care centres were so readily and freely accessible.
Well this is the first of three- then 3 more over new year- and it going very well so far- busy but enjoyable! Hope you have all had a lovely sleep and i pray it stays cold and dark tomorrow so i can snuggle under the duvet and make like a dormouse! Sorry i know that selfish!

SIDESHOWBOB	I have worked shifts for 30 years, nearly. I retire from the polce next September. I have always loved my night shifts. Nowadays you're always teamed up with someone but when I first started you were on your beat alone. It was scary but exciting. I love night shift. It's just like they said it would be. You never know what is round the corner!

Merry Christmas

Well finally sat down on computer after three days of frantic preparation- i love it - bah humbug to those ready in September!! This is the real spirit of christmas-- happiness and anticipation abound!!
Hope all my wonderful friends on here have a very happy and joyful christmas- be thankful for what we got and live for the special times with our families! For all other times- relax and unwind- its not often we do!!
To all those working- like myself on Boxing Day- Merry Christmas too- just smile and enjoy cos your days off will come!!
Big hugs to all and cannot wait for February to see you all again!!

first concert

I so very very lucky tonight i got to take my 14 yr old to his first concert and it was mint!!
Amy mcdonald was as wonderful as last time- i was introduced to her by a very special friend and he was never far from my thoughts tonight!!
My children loved the concert and it was wonderful doing something together- roll on the next one!!
And as far as christmas special songs- as discussed by Alpha last night- Kirsty and Christmas in New york tonight- absolutely mint-the best ever- even sung by Amy Mc and 2000 fans at carling academy!!

A1ALPHA	Hmmm - know what you mean about the Who. Took sprog to see them too - did he take me the the Chillis? Nah. Good stuff The Who - very very difficult to tell off a 14 year old who's belting out My Generation and 400 mega watts.

Fiona, it's fantastic isn't it when you can share music with your kids and do something so good together. Lately, I have taken Little Pip to lots of concerts (well ... had no-one else to go with lol) We have seen Red Hot Chillis at Hyde Park (she knows all the lyrics ... which has been an education in itself and helped us discuss lots of issues). Also Kings of Leon and The Who (got the t-shirts). Made me laugh when she was wearing the Who t-shirt and her boyfriend asked "Who's the Who?" She gave him the withering look that I like to think she has inherited from me! Lots of love to you mate, Apple xxx

A1ALPHA	Lovely to take a sprog to something like that. I took my boys to 'One Big Sunday' in Leicester 3 years running. They loved it - even though they were taken by 'an old person'. Also took my youngest to Live8 - which was amazing. Music is - brilliant.

Christmas cheer!

Well my tree is up and some cards written and most presents bought!! Should be feeling really excited - only a few more sleeps to go!!
BUT not sure why- not very festive this year- all around everyone saying the same!! Why are we letting the state of the economy spoil our fun- i am resloved to put some cheer back!!
So come on Santa deliver me a bootylicious hunk for christmas and i will wear my stockings with pride!!

A1ALPHA	Bah Humbug! I am trying to find some factory work for Christmas. It will ease my brokeness and hopefully allow me to have a luxurious one in 2009. If that doesn't work I've been invited to din dins by some very good friends.However, stockings are always yummy.
