Well I put my first item for sale on Ebay today. I now have great dreams of becoming an Ebay millionairess ... well I can dream. I just have to sell the three things I put on today. Hmmmmm! Everything is much better now. Looking forward to the summer with a visit to Brighton and then to a festival (as a volunteer) later this month, and then, last but not least, surfing at the end of the month. I'm even contemplating getting back on my bike - now that would be something.

Well, at long last I am beginning to feel better. The leg (torn calf muscle) is working now. And I have re-discovered one of my poetry books - one sent to me by a good friend. The poems are by Brian Patten. This is one of my favourites.

"A Small Dragon"

I've found a small dragon in woodshed
Think it must have come free deep in a forest
because it's damp and green and leaves
are reflecting in its eyes.

I've fed it on many things, tried grass,
the roots of stars, hazelnut and dandelion,
but it stared up to me as if to say, I need
food you can't provide.

It made a nest among the coal,
not unlike a birds but larger,
it is out of place here
and is quite silent

If you believed in it I would come
hurrying to your house to let you share my wonder,
but I wanted to see
If you yourself will pass this way.

Well I think I am over the worst of whatever Spiritual Tsunami has hit me! My daughter got concussion, I tore my calf muscle (inside) just crossing a road, the new oven door got broken and I ended up in hospital with a strange infection. In addition, I discovered that the person whom I regarded as my closest friend, lacks compassion, and just wants to talk about herself all the time. So ... I have decided to turn the tide and focus on the positive ..and you know the bad things have a good side. My neighbour has offered to help, my sister and I connected again (I had to ask her to take me to the hospital) and my lodger called me from the supermarket to ask if I wanted anything while he was there. My children have finally discovered they CAN cook and clear up after themselves! So there are some kind, thoughtful people out there. The world is good ... you just have to let people know your needs and accept help!
